Missouri State House Bill 34 will now become law without the Governor’s signature. The bill was initially started to help rural school districts save on construction and repair costs. It is now a bill that will apply to all public works projects and no longer allow Kansas City and St. Louis union rates to determine the cost of public projects in rural Missouri. Non-union rates will now be included in the prevailing wage determination which will allow local contractors to participate in those projects.

Missouri legislation hopes that now city, county and school projects that had been waitlisted due to high union rates will now be able to move forward and help provide local communities with more accessible facilities.
