This past week we hosted a couple of training/presentation sessions to kick off the use of the B2Gnow and LCPtracker hosted web-based contract and labor compliance systems, that was implemented through a joint effort  between the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Businesses (OSDB), Engineering and Construction’s (E&C) Compliance staff, and Technology. I’d like to share a little glimpse of the important work these two groups do for VTA, but it definitely won’t do justice to the significance and extent of work they do.

The OSDB group worked diligently to implement the B2Gnow system despite the challenges the group faced when an important member of their program left. With the new web-based system, the OSDB group no longer has to manually track, monitor, and report VTA’s subcontracting efforts on an excel spreadsheet to ensure/increase participation of small businesses (SBE) or disadvantaged businesses(DBE) on our contracts.

E & C’s Compliance staff worked intently to implement the LCPtracker system which facilitates the online weekly submission of a contractor’s certified payroll used to ensure all workers on-site a public works construction project are paid a fair wage.

With the implementation of both compliance systems we eliminate a significant amount of paper, more effective use of staff time, increase contractor’s and VTA’s compliance with federal and state laws, improve accessibility of accurate data, and provide instant view of a contractor/project’s status.

Many thanks to the OSDB and the E & C Compliance groups, our project managers from B2Gnow and LCPtracker, our contracts administrator, and everyone who played a role in the project(s) success! Great job everyone!
