A U.S. Department of Labor investigation found that two subcontractors on a federally funded construction project violated labor laws by failing to pay prevailing wages and fringe benefits, and by submitting falsified payroll records. As a result, $77,206 in back wages was recovered for five workers. The prime contractor, responsible for managing prevailing wage compliance, has paid the back wages. Additionally, the two subcontractors have been barred from working on federally funded projects for three years.
