What is Fortify?

Fortify is a new digital Identity Provider (IDP) bringing modern authentication concepts to our users. Following guidance from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a part of the United States Department of Commerce, Fortify simplifies authentication while offering modern security practices including two-factor authentication (2FA), a subset of multi-factor authentication (MFA), and external logins, allowing users to authenticate into LCPtracker products through trusted third party authenticators (TPA).

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I begin using Fortify?

Fortify begins rolling out in early 2022 through mid-2023, as a phased migration. As phases commence, accounts will be notified and given information on next steps to complete onboarding.

Which users get affected by this change?

This affects all users of LCPtracker products. Your current authentication process will stay intact until your account gets migrated.

Will this affect my functionality when I’m in LCPtracker?

While it’s possible your authentication process might change, your LCPtracker experience will not be affected

Is there a cost to use Fortify?

No, Fortify is a value add-on for our customers.

Why is LCPtracker making this change?

Many websites still use the NIST guidelines created in 2003 – commonly referred to as complex passwords. NIST continued their cybersecurity efforts and published a new set of authentication guidelines in 2017. As part of our ongoing efforts to maximize the security of our customers’ data, LCPtracker’s Fortify authentication platform implements these new NIST guidelines.

What is two-factor authentication?

Authentication commonly consists of something you know (like a password), something you are (like a thumb print), or something you have (like a phone). Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires that a user submits two of these criteria in order to gain access.

2FA is highly encouraged, as it means if a malicious entity gets a hold of one of these elements, your account is still secure. Below is a video describing how to set this up in Fortify.

*Note: Some of the screens used in this video are out of date, but the experience has not changed

How do I create a Fortify profile?

Once your account gets migrated, you will receive an onboarding email that will link you how to create a profile.
